Walking Football

Walking Football, aimed at older adults and those with mobility injuries, is simply a slower version of the beautiful game.

Playing football has traditionally been a younger person’s sport… but don’t hang up your boots just yet as Walking Football is a great way to stay fit and healthy - both physically and mentally.

Walking football helps build strength and endurance and the low impact nature means it’s suitable for anyone suffering with osteoarthritis or joint problems. It also improves balance, coordination and muscle strength -helping you stay mobile as you get older.

Think your playing days are over?
Think again!

It's the beautiful game except that the rules are adapted for senior players:

  • Teams of 5, 6 or 7-a-side

  • No running with or without the ball

  • No slide tackles and minimal physical contact

  • Ball must be played below head height

Sessions are recreational, light-hearted and fun to be involved in, and it’s a great way to get involved in football again and play the game with confidence.

Nathan Whitehurst

It's more than just a game; it's a proper social with a cheeky pint afterwards!

My football career is far from over it would seem! A good game & a good laugh!
